Three Things You Must Do When Falling From Heaven

Three Things You Must Do When Falling From Heaven

There is an explanation for everything
Even the things there are no explanations for
That’s a little gem an angel gifted me
At least I thought she was she tasted of seraphim
The first thing to remember applicable to all facets of life
Always… always… I mean always keep pen and paper
With you at all times
A fact I understood a bit late
For I should’ve written everything down
No one plans or ever expects to fall from heaven
Until you’re wide eyed and screaming in the middle of your decent
Heaven is a long way from silence to thump
Beware of wings… or any woman with remnants of feathers in her hair
It’s in the smile, the star dust on her lips
Yielding the capacity to catch you off guard
Oh yea! Always keep your guard where it is easily retrievable
There are few things worse than being caught dancing or dining
While leaving your guard at home
And no one will ever tell you what they are
Innocence is a nuclear device wrapped in swaddling clothes
With his face covered up… I learned this the hard way
Practice, practice, practice… You must practice landing…
before you begin to believe there is a sky
before you faith base your fairytales into existence
before you purposefully infect your dreams with promise
this will become the most valuable tool in your arsenal
Impossible… is waiting to acquire a technique
after you’ve been made aware such a technique or skill
may someday be required
none of us are masters of the pop quiz or listening
understand most stars are too far off to be of consequence
or of any significance when shooting or falling
you will never hear it’s scream
or see first hand the lesson abrupt stops has to teach us
Remember… always yell!
The whispering voices of angels
Are as intoxicating as coal dust from diamonds
The melody will get you got
Laugh! Laughing may someday be as valuable as landing
learn to laugh at yourself
There will be times skill and technique will fail
and laughter will be the only thing you have to help you land safely
Halos are not night lamps
As bright as they are they don’t glow in the dark
Love is a mountain draped in a parachute… It cannot fly
No matter how you center it or how deep you bury it
Underneath an angels breast
Our fingers are faulty
They will never be able to hold anything as tight
Or as long as we thought they could
Don’t be fearful of letting go
Do not listen for your name to be called… or spoken
Or whispered, or mentioned in your presence
For it will be dark, cold, swollen, dismembered and bloody
Scrapped from the tongues of friends and loved ones
Who tossed it about so many times it will no longer sound
caressed and reverenced as it did some days ago
Hold your head high, let them see the you they knew
Before you became the person someone else’s pain
painted a couple of shades darker, rings around your eyes
a touch of horn showing when you turn your head to the left
Never forget in this America Black men in all historical records
Were disemboweled, gutted and hung… name first
Your character is what they can’t destroy
You will have to brace it for support
Too many knives in back will weigh heavy on your soul
Laugh! Laugh out loud when you finally discover
there will be no safe place to land
only hands that push, that rip not catch
you will be fine
when falling from heaven… remember
most people fail to believe in its existence anyway

you… you will be fine
